Section 508 basics for small print jobs

A brochure that prints beautifully can still become a barrier online. These five checks catch common problems.

  1. Tags. Headings, lists, and tables need real document structure.
  2. Reading order. Confirm that multi-column layouts read in the intended sequence.
  3. Alternative text. Informative images need useful descriptions; decorative elements should be marked appropriately.
  4. Language. Set the document language and tag language changes.
  5. Contrast and live text. Keep text readable and avoid turning essential words into images.
